Firewall rules

Several firewall rules are required for the FileCap server and FileCap plugins, these are shown here.

FileCap server

Gate Source Destination Description
Port 443 (TCP) Internet FileCap server Connection from the Internet to the FileCap server.

In use for:
- Connections from the Internet to the FileCap server (for both the web portal and plugins)
- Downloading transfers
- Let's Encrypt certificate validation
Port 80 (TCP) FileCap server Internet Can be used for some system updates
Port 443
(TCP)
FileCap server Internet In use for:
- Most system updates and all FileCap server version updates
- Connections to SMS providers
- Requesting certificates through Let's Encrypt
Port 123 (UDP) FileCap server Configured NTP server Used for synchronizing the date/time on the FileCap server
Port 53 (UDP) FileCap server Configured DNS server Used for resolving domains on the Internet
Port 25 (TCP) FileCap server Configured mail server Used for sending emails

FileCap API/plugins

The FileCap plugins use the FileCap API and these all use port 443 (HTTPS), which usually does not require additional firewall rules.
