Can I also use FileCap to send large data files?
Yes, the file size is unlimited. This is because the file is stored on your own server. From this location, the large file, which can even exceed 10GB, is downloaded by the person you invited to perform the download action. Contrary to other online file transfer tools, FileCap charges no extra costs for large files.
How does the license model work?
FileCap works with a one-off basic license that includes a maintenance contract.
FileCap runs on Linux, do we need to manage and update a Linux server ourselves?
No, you don’t need to do this. Linux is part of the FileCap appliance and is, therefore, automatically updated by FileCap.
Do I need a Windows Server license?
No, you don’t need a Windows Server license to use FileCap.
The Outlook plugin cannot reach the server, what do I do now?
There can be several causes:
– There are no API key settings in the registers. Consult Read the FileCap online manual for support.
– The FileCap server has no valid certificate. Contact your reseller to solve this.
How can I load my own certificate?
Loading your own certificate can only be done within a standard license. Contact your reseller for assistance.
How does the encrypted storage actually work?
With FileCap, the encryption takes place per transfer. Every transfer gets its own unique key to do this.
Do you also have an Android application?
No, the Android version is not yet available, but we are working on it.
Can I cancel a transfer?
Yes, it is possible to cancel a transfer. You can do this via a link in the email you receive as soon as you have sent your files.
What happens to my files when the transfer term has expired?
Files are removed when the transfer term expires.
Can I exclude internal emails from FileCap?
Yes, this is one of the options. The admin portal includes a setting you can use to exclude internal emails.
Does FileCap have email encryption?
No, we don’t have this function yet, but it will soon be available.
Can I manage multiple portals?
Yes, you can. Managing multiple portals is possible for companies with multiple domains as well as for resellers with multiple clients (MSPs).
When I don't use a password or token, how secure will my transfer with FileCap be?
This transfer will be just as secure as when you send a regular email. For extra safety, we advise you to use a password or token.
Can you adjust the background of the portal?
Yes, this is one of the options. You can personalize your user environment by adding your own corporate identity, logo, or background.
Can I also safely receive files with FileCap?
Yes, you can. You can invite external parties to send files to you in a secure way. This invitation can be easily sent via the Outlook add-in.
When I make the FileCap portal available to the outside world, will it then be possible for external users to hack into my FileCap server for the sending of files?
No, that is impossible.
The Let's Encrypt certificate cannot request an SSL certificate. What is going wrong?
To request this SSL certificate, Port 80 for incoming traffic must be open. Check your settings.
Do I need a text message service within FileCap?

Do I need my own server for FileCap?
We advise you to run FileCap as a Virtual Machine (VM). For this, you can, among others, choose between Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Hyper-V, and VM-Ware.
How big does the FileCap server have to be?
The size of the FileCap server depends on the size of the files, the number of users, and the retention time. It is also possible to extend the storage at a later moment.
Does FileCap scan for viruses?
Yes, FileCap has an anti-virus engine that scans for viruses.
Can certain file formats be blocked?
Yes, you can block certain file formats based on the extension as well as on MIME-type.
Is it possible to set up multiple portals?
The multitenancy functionality allows you to manage multiple portals with 1 FileCap server.
